TOUR OF THE RAINFOREST



There are many Tropical Rain Forest located in
the world. Your group has been
chosen to be tour guides in a rain forest located in South America.
The rain forest will be open to the public and your group has 3 weeks to
prepare yourself as tour guides. Your
group wants to be very prepared since the public is counting on you.
There are many things you will need to find out about. For example: plants, animals, geography and people of the
rain forest.
TASK
Before you start your job as tour guides you should
be able to answer the following questions:
What
is a tropical rain forest, and where are they located?
What
kinds of plants and animals live in the rain forest?
What
is the climate in the tropical rain forest?
What
kind of people will you encounter with while you are working there?
You will answer these questions in a form of a letter to your parents.
Remember, you won’t see them for 3 months. You want to be able to give them a really good idea about
where you’ll be and what you are seeing.
(This will be an oral presentation to the class)
Along with your letter, you’ll be preparing a power point presentation.
You will work in a team of 4 to develop a
multi-media report. You will find a
lot of your information on the Internet and books located in the classroom
library to guide you also. Your
group must collect pictures as you’re guided through the Internet.
One member of the group will take a task.
You must keep a written journal of the information you find.
Geography Expert – This person is responsible for finding out the location and characteristics of the tropical rain forest. You must collect maps that illustrate where the rainforest is located. Also, how the destruction of rain forest affects the rest of the world.
Botany Expert – This person is responsible for finding out about
different kinds of plants in the rain forest.
You must include pictures and information about what they are good for.
There will be unusual looking pictures, so be sure to get them.
Animal Expert – This person collects information about the different kinds of animals in the rain forest. You must include pictures.
Population Expert – This person will collect information about the people in the rainforest. You may see them one day on a tour.
You must work together, since you will be tour guides
together. The people are counting on
you.
